  Chatcast

Formerly known as Chat Mirror, Chatcast is a connector between Second Life chat and Moodle-based chat sessions. This allows individuals in a Moodle course chatroom to communicate with their classmates in-world, and vice versa. Jeremy Kabumpo added a BEEP feature that allows individuals to send a sound effect to alert eachother.

Considering the possibilities of such a tool, I look no further than our Edtech597 class. On Thursday nights, a subset of our class met in-world for instructor-led training. There were some individuals who couldn't participate in these "chat-heavy" sessions for technical reasons such as school firewall or video card limitations. In a Sloodle scenario, those users could use the Moodle course's chatroom and participate in those chat sessions without missing a text-based beat.
