    What is Sloodle?

a team
a project
a technology
a funny word
all of the above

If you guessed "all of the above", you would be quite correct.

According to its development team, Sloodle is a "mashup technology" aimed at the integration of the well-known, open-source learning management system called "Moodle" and the popular, web-based virtual world known as "Second Life". Or, in other words...

Second Life + Moodle = SLoodle

The goal of such integration is to better equip Second Life as a learning environment for online educators and students alike, resulting in a virtual experience space (Aldrich, 2005) that offers the structure of LMS functionality in the context of a multiplayer simulation. Aldrich documents this architecture, very clearly defining the content, management and experience dimensions of this type of system architecture.

The only departure of his model from the initial Sloodle model is that Second Life is launched client-side from a dedicated application versus the browser/portal approach.
