  Welcome

This site is an up close and personal look at the Sloodle project. The creators of this technology intend to bridge many critical gaps and better position Second Life as a viable learning and teaching environment. A central theme and driving purpose for this site is to synthesize knowledge obtained from BSU Edtech597: Educational Gaming and Simulations.

The site is organized as follows:

Section Description
Five W's The setup questions are answered for a conceptual understanding of what Sloodle is, why it is important, who is involved, and where to learn more.
Digging In A review of six Sloodle features that are in-development or have been beta-released for Second Life educators.
Evaluation Sloodle is evaluated within the context of Edtech597 course topics and materials.
Possibilities Further application of Edtech597-related concepts and consideration of how Sloodle might mature in terms of development and in-world use.

Texts used in this course are cited often throughout this site:

Aldrich, C. (2005). Learning by Doing: A Comprehensive Guide to Simulations, Computer Games and Pedagogy in e-Learning and Other Educational Experiences. San Francisco, CA: Pfeiffer.

Gibson, D. (2006). Games and Simulations in Online Learning: Research and Development Frameworks. Hershey, PA: Information Science Publishing.

Please enjoy the site, join the Sloodle team, and contact me if you have any questions related to this study. Best wishes in your Second Life, Moodle and Sloodle efforts!
