Vision Statement

"Educational technology (also called learning technology) is the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources." The term educational technology is often associated with, and encompasses, instructional theory and learning theory. While instructional technology covers the processes and systems of learning and instruction, educational technology includes other systems used in the process of developing human capability."-Wikipedia

The positive effects of using technology in education is not as easily stated as some other research done in education.  There have been many studies done on the impact of technology on education that have positive data that favor the use of technology.  There are also many studies done that show technology has no positive effects on education.   The discrepancy between these studies creates an unsure right answer to the question, “does technology have any significant effect on education that educators should be concerned with?”  I believe technology is a necessary component to any education program.  I feel technology has many positive effects in the learning process.  There are four areas alone that technoogy has shown a positive effect in.  First, technology has influenced student performance.  Second, technology helps develop higher order thinking and problem solving skills.  Third, technology increases student involvement, interest, and is an overall motivator.  Finally, technology addresses the needs of low performing, at risk, and handicapped students.
