Rating: 5 Stars from 3 voters.
**Click the video, listen to some "Aussie" music while you are reading and perusing the "Aussie" site.
Debriefing: This user created an interesting set of music compilation YouTube videos from various countries. The user profile indicates 47 country's music videos but I am sure there are more to be created. There are facts while the music plays similar to VH1's Pop-Up videos. The videos are great and people that are interested in other culture's music will use his videos as a resource. I have mixed thoughts about the ratings of the videos because some people might think, "Well I don't care about the music culture of that country." However, if someone is truly interested about music and pass it onto friends it might flourish.

Average Rating: 5 Stars from 154 voters.
Debriefing: I love the novelty Australian shaped burgers. It shows how much pride the people of Australia have. From this video, the user mentions the word, "bogan." I had to search for meaning and came up with a country person supposedly comparable in the United States as to our word "rednecks" from the Urbandictionary.com, there are several meanings of the word. For those visual learners, the user has video about a bogan. Bewared there is some language but he is trying to portray the bogan characteristics. The video's ratings will be the same it depends on if people are wanting to know about Australia day or viewers watching all of his videos.

Debriefing: This is a great video to illustrate geographic facts and figures as well as jargon such as servo, light globes, thongs, bottle shop, and etc. Also provides some Aussie music again. It was surprising to learn that they have a 95% voter turn out. You will enjoy this video, it is one of my favorites. The video's ratings will stay the same with 4 to 5 star range.

Rating: 2.5 Stars from 3 voters.
Debriefing: Interesting video on the Australians' perceptions about Australia being tolerant, free, the weather, and beaches. However, the video seems to be a bit misguided or unless the director was being subtle about the Aboriginal culture and existence because of 1788. First of all the director did not either write a caption or debrief about the significance of 1788. One could guess it could have been the time when Europeans settled in Australia but it could have been another event entirely.
The director's view is similar to watching the Jay Leno show when he perform the "Jaywalkers" section of the show. This involves interviewing random people and asking them some general knowledge question, such as, "What is another name of the 4th of July?" The viewers are left stunned when individuals can not answer general knowledge questions. Perhaps this is the similar effect the direction wants, the reality factor of Australian citizens not knowing about the "invasion of 1788" because of the word the director used versus "settlement." Obviously, it is terrible what had happened to the Aboriginal people in the past. I want to know the director's purpose since it was not painted clearly. At the end of the video it shows it was copyrighted in 2001 to the University of Newcastle. Therefore, the video was created for educational use, so I am wonder was there more to the video? Perhaps the video was educational to illustrate how different words can portray historical events. This is the prime example how you can love and hate YouTube, grateful to have an interesting clip but wonder if there was more to the video. Therefore, some of the discussion I have said for the video indicates why users have rated this video as low.
Video Title: Australian Aboriginal Genocide
User: hokulani78
Hits: 5,023 as of December 9, 2008
Date: February 1, 2008
Rating: 4.5 Stars for 29 voters.
Debriefing: It was a historical presentation authored in PowerPoint, however it is a very good method to utilize powerpoint if you are microphone or web cam shy. It was a very informative presentation. I learned quite a bit about the Australian history. The fact from 1788 to 1900 the European settlers reduced the Aboriginal people by 80%, such a devastating figure. The presentation included information about aboriginal children taken away to European assimilation schools. This reminded me of the Indian Boarding schools in the United States. The quote from the 10 year in the presentation, "...black people were bad. I wanted my skin to be white." A very somber quote. The video has received an average of 4.5 stars, that is a very good rating. I can see why some users could vote less because it is not action pack but I am glad the video director used music during the presentation.
Video Title: Boomerang Lesson
User: returnoftheboomerang
Hits: 100 as of December 9 2008.
Date: September 16, 2008
Rating: 5 Stars from a vote.
Debriefing: This is a fun video about boomerang throwing. The contenders are from different countries, one of them calls himself, "a kiwi." A kiwi is someone from New Zealand. At the moment this video has a high rating of five stars but perhaps in the future it might decrease because I can see how someone could find this not as entertaining compared to other videos. This video is about why the boomerang teacher decided to teach versus people just throwing the boomerang and gaining the instant reaction of "Wow, this is cool!"
Video Title: Aussie Slang
User: coolnycme1
Hits: 14,192 as of Dec 9 2008
Date: Dec 1 2006
Rating: 4.5 Stars from 19 voters
Debriefing: A video about some Aussie slang. There have been other YouTube videos about Aussie slang but this is to the point and with a very little lag time of the presenter "hmm"ing if they have forgotten any other word. I have read some of the comments between Aussies saying that some words are being used the wrong way. I would assume every region is different just ask or I am sure someone else would politely tell you it used inappropriately. The rating of 4.5 stars is a fairly good. This video is not the end all of other Aussie slang videos but the professionalism and presentation is an element I would rate very highly.
Video Title: Wallace Rockhole, Australian Travel Video Guide
User:overlander
Hits: 71 as of Dec 10 2008.
Date: November 26 2008
Rating: 5 Stars from a voter.
Debriefing: The overlander eats at a steakhouse with kangaroo, crocodile , emu, and camel on the menu. It is just odd to hear that on the menu but perhaps I'll give it ago when I am on that continent. I found it humorous that the Australians sell the camels back to the Arabs. Benjamin Abbot, talks about the herbs to be used in healing, "dry area" within the village, and talking about the history of the land. I wish the Overlander would have let Mr. Abbot talk more about the healing herbs but perhaps the secrets will not be told on YouTube, you have to be there in Australia to be able to have the privilege to know the knowledge. As for the ratings, five stars, I am sure in the future the trend will continue.
Video Title: Spear throwing, Kakadu Aboriginal Culture Camp
User: jimbob512000
Hits: 456 as of December 10 2008.
Date: August 20, 2008
Rating: 5 Stars from 2 voters.
Debriefing: A video about Aboriginal spear throwing. It is definitely a different way of throwing compared to the modern track and field javelin. The video is very informative, it was shame there was some disrespectful people in the background talking while the man was speaking. Also, I think it would have been interesting to see some of the visitors of the park throwing the javelins but we did not see it. The video has a five star rating, I think that will continue on since people the world over are interested in the aboriginal culture and it is in the theme of sports.

User:pleasetakemeto
Hits: 6,494 as of December 10 2008.
Date: November 27, 2006
Rating: 4.5 Stars from 14 voters.
Debriefing: A video about the rich scenery of the island of Tasmania. The video has a 4.5 star rating probably since it was short and did not contain a lot of detail to what to specifically see in the town of Hobart. It still had nice presentation and great views of the island. In the future, I would expect the ratings to stay consistent.
