Currently there are no known assistive or adaptive technology funding programs available that will pay for al types of disabilities. Medicare can pay up to 80% if a person can justify that the equipment is being used for "durable medical equipment". Under this definition, a person must use the utility primarily as a piece of medical equipment and would not be useful to a person that does not have the illness or disability.

People that have various health care plans should consult their plans or health insurance companies to see if they qualify for assistive or adaptive technology funding. There are also some subsidy programs that are in place from various organizations, and careful investigation into some of these options would be well advised.
