There are so many companies that produce different types of hardware for assistive technology that you could just about have entire site dedicated to the subject. Considering the number of disabilities there are and the various disability levels each particular individual has, it is important to keep in mind that before a purchase, a proper evaluation of the student is in order so that needs can be assessed.

Advanced Auditory Communicator
The Advanced Auditory Communicator is designed to help people with speech disabilities. The device has spaces for seven different icons that represent the feelings of the individual using the device. When the user presses an icon, the selected image makes a low sound to let the user know what is being expressed, and when the icon is pressed for a second time, it makes the sound loud enough for everyone to hear. Other types of pictures can be inserted into the seven different slots to accommodate different messages.

Communicator / Computer Stand
A person that has suffered a stroke may not have the ability to set at the proper angle at a computer desk or table. This computer stand is designed to provide a variable rotation of 360 degrees. The computer laptop can be tilted in the direction that will enable the user to be able to access the device and adjust the angle to his or her needs.

Eco-14 Direct Selection Communicator
The Eco-14 is a Windows- based computer that is designed for people that have severe physical or neurological disabilities as well as speech disabilities. Utilizing a Windows platform, this computer is a full featured augmenting computer that utilizes on screen touching and a one touch transition from software programs to voice recognition commands. You can run all sorts of programs with this device as long as they use a Windows platform or other software that is designed for the unit.
