About Me

Now in my 29th year of teaching, I have had the privilege of spending all 29 of those years in the same K-8 district in a northern suburb of Chicago, Illinois. As a teacher in Deerfield District 109 I have taught in each of the six schools (used to be seven) first as an Instrumental Music Teacher and now, at Kipling Elementary School, as the general music teacher for students in grades K-5. I teach private violin lessons in my home and, before my children came along, was an active musician. Playing in string quartets, being a strolling violinist for receptions and parties, and playing in a dance band for weddings and debutante balls, broadened my musical horizons beyond the classical training of my college years. In the years since, I have enjoyed contributing my musical talents as a volunteer church musician.

Over the years I have found myself broadening my horizons as a teacher as well. From a more narrow focus on instrumental music/strings, to general music, to a discovery of the power that technology can bring to teaching and learning, my hope for the future is to help others effectively integrate technology in their classrooms. As a music teacher, my time in the MET program has taught me that technology integration has the power to broaden educational horizons well beyond my own classroom. Please join me as I share the journey that brought me out of my music box.
