The Internet as an Instructional Tool

o     Volcano World  This is a great educational web site for volcanoes.  A lot of great links on the page.

o     Ask Dr. Math  Drexel University’s site that will answer and provide help with any math question.

o     The Nine Planets Tour This site has useful information about each planet and moon in our solar system. Up-to-date information is also available.

Summary

o    There are numerous instructional uses for the internet in the classroom and that is what makes educational technology such an interesting and exciting field.  Students can use the internet for learning any topic imaginable.  Research papers, class projects, web quests, online tutorials, interactive games and activities, and online publishing are just some of the uses for the internet in the classroom.

o    Teachers can do the same thing; items that were formerly done with paper and pencil (lesson planning, grade books, attendance, etc.) can now be done online.  Teachers can create their own web pages to help keep parents and students informed on lesson plans, upcoming events, class images, resources, and anything else deemed important.

o    Teachers just need to make sure that district guidelines and proper online etiquette are practiced whenever students are using the internet at school.
