Yahooligan's Teacher's Guide states, "AUPs (Acceptable Use Policies) are documents that outline the school's intended uses of the network/Internet and establish do's and don'ts for online behavior."

It is important for every teacher to become familiar with the guidelines set forth in the school's Acceptable Usage Policy. Teachers should set an example for their students in everything they do, including using the computer. All faculty and staff should have a signed Acceptable Usage Policy on file. The teacher can better enforce the computer usage protocol only if the teacher understands the protocol.

Download a copy of this policy. Read through it; be sure to ask questions of the Network Administrator if any of the guidelines are unclear. The guidelines include:

            -the purpose of the school network and Internet connection

            -Netiquette Rules: acceptable Internet/school network behavior

            -Consequences for failing to comply with the policy

            -required signatures

                      Faculty/student signature and date

                      Parents' signatures should accompany students'

Thoroughly review the Acceptable Usage Policy with students at the beginning of each year. Refer to the policy frequently throughout the school year.
