Plagiarism

Although the Internet provides access to a vast amount of information, technology has provided a pitfall for corruption in plagiarism. Students have a tendency to "copy and paste" because it is so easy to do so. Students do not fully understand the severity of plagiarism.

It is the responsibility of the educator to make sure that every student understands that plagiarism is stealing and passing it off as your own work. It is fraud which is a Federal offense and punishable by law.

Require students to take notes in their own words; do not allow the copy and paste option, not even for notes.

Require all student work to be accompanied with proper citation.
