TASK
Your task is to
create the goals and
objectives of a database-integrated
lesson
plan.
Before thinking about the goals and objectives, it will be
helpful to firstly understand how one Instructional Design
theory, "Learning by Design" (LBD) can be used as the
framework for your activity.
After understanding the conceptual framework, work through
the ADDIE Instructional Design Model in order to understand
how to put a lesson together.
Once you have worked through the steps of the
ADDIE Model*, you will have created the
goals and objectives for the lesson you will be prepared
to create.
This analogy may help you
understand the overall process:
In the movie
"The Devil Wears
Prada", a description is made
detailing how fashion gets from the mind of a designer
onto the body of a consumer:
1) The designer envisions the
line of clothes for a show.
2) The designer creates the "blueprint" line of clothes
and shows them.
3) Clothing companies use the show clothes as a guideline
for the styles they will physically make for purchase.
4) The consumer purchases and wears the clothes.
A similar
process can be thought of with instructional design:
1) The educator envisions which
theoretical conceptual
framework she wishes to use in guiding the process.
2) The educator follows a design model in order to
determine what the lesson should accomplish.
3) The educator creates the specific lesson
to be used by students.
4) The students participate in the classroom activity.
Please continue
to the Learning By Design (LBD) Theory.
*Note: There
many other Instructional Design Models such as the
Dick & Carey Model
or the
Instructional System Design (ISD)
Model, but the ADDIE Model is a streamlined approach
suitable for students new to the field of Instructional
Design.
