You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.

~Clay P. Bedford

Welcome!

This portfolio is a fulfillment of this life-long learner's curiosity about educational technology. I will utilize this genre to exhibit and reflect on areas of my learning throughout my acquisition of a masters in the field of educational technology. The tools I will use to showcase my learning are as follows: AECT Standards Mapped, a Reflection Paper, and a Video Presentation.

Professional Biography:

I was educated in a small, rural school district in extreme Southern Illinois and received my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Southeast Missouri State University just across the Mississippi River from where I was raised. I currently teach in the Egyptian School District in Tamms, IL where I am a 15 year teaching veteran of middle school Pre-Algebra, general math, and U.S. History, with the addendum of Algebra 1 this fall.

My love affair with all things technical began mostly with the Enhancing Education through Technology grant that was awarded to our district’s middle school. I was awarded a plethora of technology equipment for my classroom, but the most valuable grant gift was the professional development I received with the equipment along with several online classes through PBS Teacherline. My foray into online learning sparked my interest not only in pursuing my own masters online but acquiring the skills needed to teach online as well.
