Study Abstract

Differences
between students’ perceived technology skills in online and on campus
educational technology courses for pre-service teachers
(EDTECH202)
were investigated in this study. Technology skills in seven categories
were rated using a one to four Likert scale. The results indicated
significant differences in word processing skills between the two course
types, with additional research indicating that gender might play a
significant role in these differences. Cross-tabulation of technology
skills and course type with gender and technology skills and gender with
course type also provided additional information into the role of gender
in perception of technology skills. While this research is exploratory
and not definitive, it offers researchers and teachers of EDTECH202
courses additional insights into possible gender issues and differences
in perceived technology skills. Our discussion is concurrent with
current research regarding designing curriculum to meet student needs
and understanding gender differences in learning. |
