How We Did It!

  1. First, we worked on designing our form in FrontPage, with the results automatically going into a text delimited file.
  1. We instructed our students to complete this form: http://edtech2.boisestate.edu/bschroeder/edtech202/tech_survey.htm

  2. We exported the text file into Access, then Excel, and then into SPSS.
  3. We looked over the data in SPSS and made changes to the variables as needed.
  4. We analyzed the data in SPSS, performing various tests and saving the tests to different output files.
  5. As we were writing the report, we referred to the various output files, so that we could make sense of all of the data analysis: (Translation: We didn't understand what the heck we were doing!)
  6. Also, you can insert text in the output files, which makes it easy to remember what you wanted to say.
  7. We found that you can export tables in SPSS to Excel, then more easily format tables to insert into your Word document.
  8. Also, we realized when working on our paper together that we could keep it on our website, open it, make changes as needed and then save it back to the server. That way, we would be constantly working on an updated version, and the file would be available to us anywhere.
