PREPARING FUTURE MANAGERS FOR A COMPETITIVE
NEW WORLD: THE ROLE OF ACADEMIA
ABSTRACT
Over the past two decades, the emergence of new technology has ushered in a new information age and has essentially created a “flat” world. Yet, our universities, in many ways, continue to prepare our students to work in a primarily industrial society. This may be placing our graduates at a competitive disadvantage in the new, international labor pool available to employers. In this paper, we offer seven principles that we believe are important to instill in our students as they prepare to enter this new information society.

With the emergence of a new information society, blended learning is enjoying renewed interest. Within academia, faculty, students, and administrators each face their own issues with respect to blended learning. Based on our experiences, we offer suggestions for each of these key stakeholders.

ABSTRACT
Database management systems are becoming easier to use and more available to all participants. Emergency management is a diverse and dynamic field that can find large efficiencies and economies of scale with database management systems.
