Evaluation ScenarioQuestions:1. What are the benefits and limitations of an evaluation? 2. What factors ensure that an evaluation will be successful? 3. How might one use evaluation results? Assignment:Answer the three questions above as they apply to the Rich Kids, Poor Kids Scenario What are the benefits and limitation of an evaluation?Benefits: 1. The benefits of an evaluation for MCCD district and the Cashflow Technologies Inc. are to see if the MCCD will benefit from the financial literacy program. 2. If indeed the MCCD will benefit from the financial literacy program then the community will too benefit from the program by hiring the program's graduates. 3. If it is determined the need for financial literacy is great, then the evaluation was beneficial two-fold, the college will see where they are dropping the ball, and the students will gain the needed literacy. 4. Instructors will benefit from the evaluation process, if the evaluation shows need, instructors will receive free training of the product. The evaluation process will either determine whether their is a need for the product. If there is a need the evaluation will determine who is at greatest need. If the evaluation determines there is no need, then the MCCD saved $6000! Another possible benefit will be for the Cashflow Technologies company. If the evaluation determines a need and the trial phase is successful, which will be determined by assessment, then the Cashflow Technologies is bound to do very well financially. Limitations: Depending on whether the MCCD really wants the product, the information provided to the evaluators might be skewed to fit the agenda of the college. The evaluation could determine other shortfalls within the college's curriculum, student population and staff. The evaluation may determine that there is a need for financial literacy but the willingness from staff to be trained might not be there. If the evaluation determines the need is there, the long term obligation might be too great with regards to time, and financial obligations. What factors ensure that an evaluation will be successful? The greatest factor that the evaluation has is the fact that an unrelated outside source is responsible for the evaluation. But having said that, if successful evaluation is determined by the social and political atmosphere within and outside of the program, how is one to determine each and every evaluators political or social agenda? One would have to make sure that all evaluators did not have any personal or political agenda, which sounds a bit pessimistic. The evaluation will only be as successful as the evaluators abilities i.e. organization skills, communication skills, writing skills etc. How might one use evaluation results? The evaluation is going to determine one of two things, is there a need for Cashflow Technologies Inc, and if so, to what extent, or the evaluation will determine that there is no need for Cashflow Technologies product. If the findings are that MCCD could use Cashflow Technologies expertise, then logistics will need to be determined, as will the funding process. If the evaluations shows that the need is not there, MCCD will inadvertently learn something from the evaluations results. They might find out that there is an alternative need to be met.
