INSTRUCTIONS

In this mission you will take a quiz to see how much you know about Internet safety. This will let your teacher understand what she needs to teach you about Internet safety.

As you are taking the quiz, make sure you write down any questions you get wrong. Hand in your paper to your teacher at the end of class.

Glossary Terms We Need To Know:

Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) contracts encourage responsible behavior by students and staff and give administrators enforceable rules for acceptable use of school computers.

Internet - A worldwide network of computers communicating with each other via phone lines, satellite links, wireless networks, and cable systems.

Internet Safety - Rules that you should follow to keep yourself safe while using the Internet.

Log-in Name - Also known as a user name, screen name, or member name. It should not be your real first and last name, but something made up that you can remember but that doesn't tell anyone else who you are in real life. Always have your parent or guardian help you make a log-in name.

Personal (Personal) Information - Any information that could help a stranger identify who you are or where you live.

Road Rule #1: Never give out personal information on the Internet!

What is personal information, and why should we never give out personal information on the Internet?

Teacher: Please download the file below, and have your students complete the handout. Discuss all areas of personal information stated on the "Teacher" page if this C.W. and the worksheet below. Have your students tell you what they think is personal (private) information. Discuss each area mentioned in the handout and make sure your students understand why it is indeed personal information.
